    He was serving with the 13th Middlesex Regiment at Sanctuary Wood when he sustained a severe gunshot wound to his back on or about 30th January 1916. His parents received a telegram on 12th February 1916 saying he was dangerously ill and they could visit him at public expense if they could not afford the fare. On the morning of 15th February they were on a ship heading for Boulogne, Hopefully they arrived in time before he passed away

  • a private in 13th Middlesex Regiment no:4518 as Robert John Fenton died on 16th February 1916 aged 24, son of Robert and Clara Fenton, of Woodford Essex. His inscription reads "There is a Link Death Cannot Sever His Loving Memory Lasts Forever"
