  • 129. Alfred EDWARDS. Alfred and his family are to be found in the Census of 1851. living in Metfield. His occupation at that time was declared to be a machine drillman. Two of his three known children were also in the home on Census day. The youngest had died during the year before the Census. In 1881 he was alone at a cottage in St James Road, Withersdale, a widower, and said he was a general labourer. At the time of his marriage in Fressingfield in 1843 he stated he was a farmer in Metfield.
